Tata Curvv EV

  • The 2025 Tata Curvv EV is an all-electric version of Tata’s SUV-coupe,

  • It looks unique because of its lighting animations, sloping roofline, aerodynamic wheel covers on the alloy wheels and flush door handles with lighting.

  • The dashboard design is simple and straight forward, featuring a floating touchscreen and a four-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo. The grey and white upholstery colour scheme looks premium.

  • A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and level-2 ADAS are some of the top features of the Tata Curvv 2025.

  • The claimed range of the Tata Curvv stands at 430km (45kWh model) and 502km (55kWh model).

Tata Curvv EV expert review

CarDekho Experts
Overall, the Curvv is a good product, but if it could deliver a segment-up experience in terms of quality, space, and comfort, it would have been easy to recommend.

Overview

The Tata Curvv EV is a compact SUV that seats five people Its main USP is its unique SUV-coupe styling, marking Tata’s first foray into the compact SUV segment. It has many similarities with the Nexon EV but is longer and equipped with a larger battery pack.

The Tata Curvv EV doesn’t have direct rivals, but its closest competitors are the MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV. Once its ICE version is launched, it will also compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Citroen Basalt, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Exterior

  • I really like the styling of the Tata Curvv EV, which blends plenty of modern elements with its SUV-coupe silhouette really well.

  • It looks largely similar to the standard ICE-powered Curvv, but gets EV-specific elements like the revised nose styling, aero-efficient alloy wheels and different paint options.

  • I like the fact that the Curvv EV gets LED headlights and LED DRLs as standard. LED projector headlamps and connected lighting setup are available from the Accomplished variant, which makes it look more modern.

  • The welcome and goodbye function of these sleek LED lights looks really cool at night.

  • The shape looks really stylish in profile where its sloping roofline grabs most of the attention. The flush door handles and contrasting black panels around the wheel arches further add some flash to the design.

  • The large 18-inch wheels fill the wheel wells nicely, but I wish Tata offered the more stylish, petal-like alloys offered in the ICE-powered Curvv.

  • The lower variants of the Curvv sport 17-inch wheels with covers or alloys, depending on the variant.

  • At the rear, the sloping roofline provides the car with an aerodynamic look and the connected LED tail lamps blend in beautifully with the rear design language.

  • While the overall styling is attractive, I wish Tata had done a little more to differentiate it from the standard Curvv.

  • The 2025 Tata Curvv is available in 5 dual tone shades: Virtual Sunrise, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, Flame Red, and Pristine White.

  • There’s also a Carbon Black exterior shade that is limited to the Dark edition of the Tata Curvv, and it looks really good with its blacked-out elements.

Interior

Design & Quality

  • Just like the standard Curvv, the cabin of the Curvv EV is almost identical to the Nexon.

  • The styling is minimalistic, and the huge infotainment system and three-spoke steering wheel take up most of the real estate.

  • While the styling is nice to look at, the Curvv’s cabin quality is similar to the Nexon with similar plastic graining, and is only acceptable for the price point.

  • For a little upmarket feel, you get leatherette on the lower dashboard trim, seats, central armrest, door pads, and steering wheel.

Driving Position

  • The Curvv EV’s front seats offer good comfort in terms of cushioning and support.

  • From a comfort standpoint, only taller people will complain about the upper back height being a little short.

  • 6-way powered front seats make adjustments super easy. If only there was a telescopic adjustment in the steering wheel, finding a comfortable driving position would’ve been easy too.

Passenger Comfort

  • Ingress egress in the Curvv EV isn’t the easiest because of the sloping roofline and raised floor.

  • The front passenger will appreciate the 6-way powered adjustment and front central armrest.

  • The Curvv EV’s rear seats offer good comfort and acceptable space for two average size adults, but tall people will find the space to be restricted.

  • The raised floor results in a knees-up seating position with limited footroom and the sloping roofline eats into the headroom.

  • The Curvv EV’s cabin feels airy though and can accommodate three average-sized people with little adjustment if needed.

  • But the middle passenger in the Curvv EV doesn’t get any headrest and sits a little outwards owing to the shape of the backrest and seat base.

  • For convenience, there’s a central armrest with cupholders, rear AC vents and a single type-C charging port.

Storage Options

  • Just like the Nexon and standard Curvv, storage spaces in the Curvv EV could’ve been better executed.

  • It gets 1-litre bottle pockets in all doors, small storage underneath the front central armrest, and an open area underneath the AC control panel.

  • The glovebox compartment is big and cooled, but the cupholders placement is highly inconvenient.

  • The small hook on the passenger side central tunnel is a neat touch and can be used to hang small plastic bags.

  • Tata offers a wireless charging pad in the central tunnel, but it is only big enough for a base Iphone model. Anything bigger just won’t fit.

  • The rear occupants don’t get any seat back pockets, only two cupholders in the central armrest.

Features

  • The 2025 Tata Curvv is one of the most feature-loaded cars you can get at its price point.

  • The 12.3-inch infotainment has good graphics and simple interface, which makes it easy to use. It is quick for the part, but is prone to occasional glitches and lags.

  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is wireless, and it is easy to use.

  • The 10.25-inch digital driver’s display offers customisable layouts, which relays a host of information. The graphics are crisp and clear, and it also displays the feed of the blind spot monitor.

  • The 9-speaker JBL Audio has good sound quality and you will particularly enjoy bass-heavy music on this system.

  • The 360-degree camera has great execution with different 2D and 3D viewing modes. It works well even at night.

  • The Curvv EV’s blind spot monitor displays the feed on the driver’s display, and I found it to be really useful while making a tight maneuver.

  • The panoramic sunroof extends into the second row and can be controlled via voice commands.

  • The Vehicle to Load (V2L) feature can prove useful while camping. It can be used to charge your gadgets or power stuff like a kettle.

  • There’s also a Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) function, using which, the car can be used to charge other EVs if and when needed.

Safety

  • Just like all the Tata SUVs, the Curvv EV too scored a full five star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP crash test agency.

  • Standard safety features in the Curvv EV include 6 airbags, electronic stability program, all-wheel disk brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and tyre pressure warning system.

  • Features like tyre pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, auto headlamps, auto defogger and auto dimming inside mirror get added in the higher variants.

  • The top-spec Empowered+ A 55 variant of the Tata Curvv EV even packs Level-2 autonomous driving assistance features (ADAS) like auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Boot Space

  • The Curvv EV’s 500-litres of on-paper storage is large and well-shaped. It can easily accommodate a full suitcase set along with a few soft duffle bags.

  • The 60:40 split-folding rear seats offer versatility in case you need to haul larger items.

  • I like that Tata offers a powered tailgate with a kick sensor, which makes it very easy to open the boot in case your hands are full.

  • The Tata Curvv EV also gets a small frunk which can be used to store the charger or small bags.

Performance

  • The 2025 Tata Curvv EV gets two battery packs: 45 kWh and a larger 55 kWh.

  • The smaller 45kWh battery pack is paired with a 150 PS electric motor, while the bigger battery gets a 167 PS electric motor. Torque remains the same at 215 Nm for both.

Specifications Medium Range Long Range
Battery Pack 45 kWh 55 kWh
Power 150 PS 167 PS
Torque 215 Nm 215 Nm
MIDC-claimed Range (Part 1+2) 502 km 430 km
C75 estimated real-world range Upto 425 km Upto 350 km

Tata Curvv EV 45kWh

  • Even with the smaller battery pack and its reduced power output, the Curvv EV is simply easy to drive.

  • The power is ample and the torque is instant, which makes all city and highway high-speed overtakes an easy task. You won’t really ever have to plan your overtakes.

  • Both the battery packs get three driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport.

  • Power delivery is smooth in Eco mode, but still enough for you to make a quick overtake. I would recommend this drive mode for regular city commutes.

  • While the delivery still remains smooth in City mode, the acceleration feels more responsive.

  • In sports mode, the throttle becomes really sharp and the Curvv EV picks up speed more quickly. It can be a bit jerky, so it’s best saved for either the occasional spirited driving or high speed highway overtakes.

  • Both the battery packs also get four regen modes, which can be changed via the paddle shifters. Level 0 means no regen and is similar to an ICE vehicle coasting in neutral.

  • Levels one and two offer smooth regenerative braking and both are perfect for regular usage.

  • The regen in level 3 is similar to one-pedal drive mode, where the car drops speed aggressively. However, it doesn’t come to a complete standstill.

  • For charging, the smaller battery pack has a 60kW fast-charging capacity, which can top up the battery from 10-80% in around 40 minutes.

  • Charging the Curvv EV 45kWh from 10-100% at home with a 15A and 7.2kW AC charger takes around 17.5 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.

  • With a real-world range of around 330km, the Curvv EV 45kWh can easily do intercity trips like Mumbai to Pune, provided that you have a charger at the destination.

Tata Curvv EV 55kWh

  • With more power, the Curvv EV 55kWh variant makes overtakes even easier.

  • The drive experience is otherwise identical to the smaller battery - smooth, refined, and effortless.

  • With an extra real-world range of around 70km, the bigger battery helps in easing any range anxiety over intercity roadtrips.

  • 10-80% charging takes only 40 minutes, courtesy of its 70kW DC fast charging capacity.

  • 10-100% home charging with a 15A and 7.2kW AC charger takes around 21 hours and 7.9 hours, respectively.

Ride and Handling

  • The ride quality of the Tata Curvv EV will never make you feel uncomfortable.

  • Just like the standard Curvv, it soaks up bad roads really well, and keeps the movement inside the cabin to a minimum.

  • Stability at higher speeds is good, and it absorbs any sudden undulation or potholes at those speeds very well.

  • It’s only over sharp potholes that you might hear an occasional loud thud sound, which might catch you by surprise.

  • Until you push the car too hard, the Curvv EV feels confident and sure-footed around a corner.

Variants

  • The 2025 Tata Curvv is offered in 5 variants: Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished + S, Empowered + and Empowered + A.

  • The Curvv EV also gets a Dark edition, which is limited to the top-spec Empowered + A variant.

Curvv EV Creative 45kWh

  • Gets premium exterior elements like LED DRLs, LED headlights, flush door handles, 17-inch steel wheel with covers and LED taillights.

  • Covers all basic amenities along with a 7-inch infotainment system, 7-inch digital driver’s display, six speakers, and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

  • Packs 6 airbags, electronic stability program, all-wheel disk brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and tyre pressure warning as standard.

Curvv EV Accomplished 45kWh & 55kWh

  • Entry-level variant for bigger 55kWh battery pack.

  • The exterior looks more modern with connected lighting elements front and back, front fog lamps, sequential turn indicators, and fancier wheel covers.

  • More premium cabin experience with leatherette seats, front armrest, and bigger 10.25-inch digital screens (infotainment and driver’s display).

  • Adds wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, 8 speakers, auto folding outside mirrors, type-C port (front and rear), and cooled glovebox to the feature list.

  • Improved safety kit with a rear-view camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Curvv EV Accomplished + S 45kWh & 55kWh

  • No changes in the exterior, but the cabin feels more spacious with a panoramic sunroof.

  • Other feature additions include wireless phone charger, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and Arcade.ev app suite.

  • Adds features like a 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, and auto defogger to the safety kit.

Curvv EV Empowered + 55kWh

  • Exactly similar design to top variant with welcome and goodbye animation for the lights and 18-inch alloys with aero inserts.

  • Premium entertainment experience with a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 9-speaker JBL sound system.

  • Improved functionality with 2-stage rear seat recline with 60:40 split, rear central armrest and a frunk (storage space underneath the bonnet).

  • Top feature additions include ambient lighting, 6-way powered front seats, air purifier, and ventilated front seats.

Curvv EV Empowered + A 55kWh

  • No cosmetic changes inside-out.

  • Only adds a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS features like auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, high beam assist, and adaptive cruise control.

CarDekho Recommends:

  • If you want a stylish looking EV, but are limited by budget, you can opt for the base Creative variant. Not only does it pack all the basics, but also offers a decent infotainment package.

  • If you can, stretch to the Accomplished variant for a more value-for-money package, or if you want the bigger battery pack.

  • Empowered + can be considered for its rich feature experience. Only misses out on the ADAS kit.

Verdict

The Tata Curvv EV is a good lifestyle option for people who prioritise form over function. It might be bigger than the Nexon, but the Curvv doesn’t pack the corresponding qualities like space or comfort that you might expect from a bigger car. What it does pack though is a lot of appeal through its stylish design, minimalistic interior, feature-rich and proven safety package. Just don’t expect it to be spacious and accommodating at the rear, especially for taller passengers.
